Maersk partners up with Venture Cup Denmark to target university startups
We are excited to announce that we have partnered up with Maersk and that we will start a collaboration with them in order to find new and innovative ideas in the Transportation & Logistics sector.
Who is Maersk?
Maersk is the world’s largest container shipping company, known for reliable, flexible and co-efficient services. It is an integrated transport and logistics company with multiple brands and is a global leader in container shipping and ports, including a stand-alone Energy division. The Transport & logistics consists of Maersk Line, APM Terminals, Damco, Svitzer and Maersk Container Industry. Together they provide transportation service, port and inland infrastructures to drive global commerce, freight forwarding and supply chain management.
Their mission is to enable everyone to trade by connecting and simplifying their supply chains
Maersk is looking for early stage startups to drive the transformation of the transport and logistics industry and shape the future of trade. They would like to involve working on cutting edge technology, or new business models on the defined problems. Ideas or proven solutions from other industries that may be applicable to this industry could also be useful,
It is for this reason that new inventions and collaborations could discover new and innovative solutions. This is where Venture Cup steps in. We are a world-leading startup organization for university students with the mission to contribute to the development of the talents and technology of tomorrow.
The collaboration will create a new category for Venture Cup’s competitions, namely NextGen Logistics, targeting university startups to help shape the future of trade and provide simple end-to-end offering of products and services in the logistics space – from producer to consumer. Startups in this category are mostly focused on broad, scalable, and flexible solutions that can help enable trade, remove barriers and decrease inefficiencies in the global supply chain.
New technology and business models will disrupt and transform the logistics industry and the future of trade. As a global industry leader, Maersk is set to drive this transformation. In the category of NextGen Logistics we are looking for new opportunities to lead the industry change to the benefit of our customers. This includes breaking down the barriers to standardization of the industry and simplifying end-to-end logistics. Solutions in this category will transform shipping, digitize logistics and solve major and complex challenges.
The safe and efficient flow of goods around the world is crucial to ensure economic growth and the success of countless businesses. Interruptions in the supply chain, including theft, counterfeit, and illegal trade, pose an increasing challenge to this success. How do we Secure Supply Chain?
Approximately 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted annually, amounting to 1 trillion USD. It requires a value chain approach to properly tackle this challenge and as an important player in this chain, we focus a substantial part of our resources on identifying opportunities and building new businesses that help reduce waste and improve the availability, quality and safety of perishable goods. Help us Fight Food Waste.
The demand for solutions and services that can remove the barriers to global trade is expected to increase as SMEs become increasingly connected to the international trade ecosystem. How do we unlock the potential of small businesses by allowing them access to knowledge, information and finance at the click of a button and by that Enable Trade?
