Nordic HealthTech Talents kicked off 2019 with a workshop in Finland with the special theme – Collaborate with the public health sector! With the help of Upgraded– a non-profit association for health & wellbeing startups and innovations in Finland, the startups got to know about the mature and unique Finnish ecosystem from both the hospitals’ and startups’ perspectives.

NHTT had the pleasure to visit Terkko Health Hub – one of the best health and life science communities of Helsinki! We were also honored to have excellent speakers to shed some light on how the Finnish system works and what to look out for if you want to do a collaboration. The experts from both the public health sectors like HUS testbed, City of Helsinki, startups like Findery, Lean Entries, Goodlife Technology, and Peili Vision shared some unique insights and experiences.
In the evening, we had a fun and insightful networking dinner with all the startups, medical experts and ventures in Helsinki. And we started the next day with the senior business consultant Susie Ruff, where at Maria01 she taught the co-founders how to communicate better and do appealing storytelling to the potential collaborators.
“It was very interesting to hear about the digitalization of health care in Finland and reflect on the opportunities that arise from that” – said Love Marcus, CEO of Provement.
- Provement is a digital evaluation and communication tool that helps clinicians individualize childhood obesity treatment and make it more effective while reducing the clinicians’ workload and the families’ perceived effort.
“It seems that in Finland, they are really interested in attracting new companies and start-ups with a very friendly and healthy environment.” – said Justas Staciokas, CTO of ArionidaPro.
- ArionidaPro AS is planning to extract the slug slime as a raw material for possible applications as medicinal patches, moisturizing and anti-aging creams, natural lubricants and adhesive and also as a green source of complex proteins.
