Announcement: Venture Cup Denmark will be closing down

Venture Cup Denmark is set to suspend its operations and dissolve its organization by April 2025. After 25 years as an independent organization in Denmark, the Venture Cup board, consisting of university representatives, has decided to shut down the organization and focus on supporting cross university entrepreneurship through different channels.

Venture Cup will fulfill its outstanding contractual obligations and conduct a solvent shutdown of the association.

The award show, and 25th anniversary, held on March 27th is thus set to be our last. For any questions regarding the competition please contact our Head of Projects Simon at [email protected]

For general inquiries or concerns please contact CEO Morten Ugelvig Andersen at [email protected]

Statement by CEO
Morten Ugelvig Andersen:

It is with sadness that I must accept the board’s decision of closing down our great organization.

I am proud of the role that Venture Cup has played in the Danish startup ecosystem, in which upwards of 20.000 early stage founders have been through our programmes. We have managed to create a financially sustainable, independent, no-for-profit platform that has allowed university startups to reach a broad network of peers and potential partners nationally and internationally, while giving society a joint platform to reach and support the most promising knowledge-based startups. Moreover we have provided a unique national collaborative platform for university employees, mentors, investors, foundation, public partners and other stakeholders, all of whom have supported us in a joint mission to enable more innovation and entrepreneurship in Denmark.

Our small team of 10 people has managed to navigate and provide value for a very large and complex stakeholder network all the while operating 10+ programmes and hosting an impressive number of events each year. Truly skilled, passionate and loyal people!

Venture Cup has continued to evolve and create new impactful initiatives in order to strengthen national collaboration and accelerate knowledge-based startups in Denmark and internationally. I sincerely hope that these programmes will live on and continue to create a positive impact, so please reach out if you have ideas of how to integrate or continue some of our amazing initiatives.

In a time in which Denmark and the EU is under pressure in terms of competitiveness and innovation, I firmly believe that we need more independent organizations, more competition, more collaboration and more entrepreneurship. Closing Venture Cup will leave a hole in the ecosystem not easily filled by existing players.

Thank you to all of you who have been part of the journey, employees, startups, mentors, jury-members, sponsors, foundations, statup-hubs, universities, ministries, ecosystem partners, public partners and many more! It takes a village 💪 ❤️ 🚀

We offer autonomously operating robots, which can move in arbitrary shaped water, oil and gas pipelines con- tinuously monitoring and detecting erosion and leakage. Countries lose million tones of water, gas and oil from damaged tubes and sometimes it become dangerous for human life and nature when gas or oil pipeline gets damaged. So our product can find damaged or clogged places on their early stage in practically all kinds of pipe- lines over and underground. With the use of our product the damaged sections of a pipeline can be found faster, more easily, precisely and without digging the ground.

This means that maintenance and replacement of pipe- lines will be safer and much more cheaper. Our product is a robot which can move through the pipelines and investigate it with pressure, ultrasonic, flow sensors and camera which can shoot up to 4k video and save it in his memory card or sent it to connected devic- es. This robots autonomously move in arbitrary shaped water, oil and gas pipelines with diameters ranging from 10 cm up to 300 cm.

Our company is a disease management solution. Our software gathers together all the most important information about your health like meds, nutrition, exercise, symptoms, vitals and sleep and analyses it to give you a clear picture of how your health is at any given moment.

Our main focus to start with is on patients with thyroid problems and other autoimmune diseases, but we plan to add on and expand so we can service people with all kinds of chronic illnesses. Having to live with a chronic illness is time consuming, costly and frankly, exhausting. We want to make peoples lives easier with one platform

where you gather all the data you need to keep track of to manage your condition. So the next time you see your doctor you’ll have a much set of data to show him about your progress the past few months, and eventually with integration into the healthcare system the doctor will be able to access all the information himself before your appointment and therefore make a much better diagnosis and decision regarding your treatment.

With integration you will also be able to access your own test results, schedule appointments, prescriptions and better communication with your doctor.
